JOB DESCRIPTION

Project Engineer required ASAP to assist the Engineering Services team within a Local Government department. The ideal candidate will work alongside an Engineering Technical Officer and report to the Manager Projects and Assets.

Client Details

Our client is a Local Government department based in the Western Suburbs (South of the river), who are seeking an Engineering Technical Officer for aprox 2 months.

Description

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • To provide a support role to the Director Engineering Services in the construction and maintenance of Council assets.
  • To provide support to the Director Engineering Services regarding infrastructure inspection, data collection, entry of new data into GIS and Asset Management Systems, provision of small layout or construction plans and field inspections related to traffic matters, road works, drainage works and footpath issues.
  • To work with the Manager Parks and Operations with the layout of small jobs on site and line marking after asphalt overlays.
  • To ensure the continued integration of Engineering Services systems, including the GIS, with the corporate system.
  • To positively promote and represent the Town on GIS, asset management and administrative matters to external parties.
  • To guide the use of the GIS within the internal staff of the Town, to maximise understanding and use.
  • To provide information to other staff as required on engineering data, projects and policy matters.


Profile

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • Knowledge and/or experience in civil infrastructure construction, maintenance and asset management.
  • Knowledge of computer databases (such as SQL and Microsoft Access).
  • Possession of a current Class 'C' driver's license.
  • Current Police Clearance
  • Oral and written interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (such as MapInfo and ArcGIS).
  • Possession of a Degree in Engineering (Civil), Surveying or equivalent
  • Knowledge or experience in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software (such as Microstation).
