Based in Victoria Point, Amity Trader is a local marine transport company, operating a range of passenger ferries and vehicle barges between Victoria Point and Coochiemudlo Island and within the South Morton Bay Island area.

A casual deckhand position exists for our vessels based out of Victoria Point.

Responsibilities include deckhand duties on Amity’s fleet of vessels, and the operation of small craft, including dinghies.

Duties include:

· High level of customer service to passengers

· Working under the direction of the Master to maintain a safe and compliant marine operation.

· Compliance with all Amity Trader Policies and Procedures

· Detailing of passenger cabin and deck areas in a safe and clean manner.

· Watch keeping duties as instructed by the Master

· Passenger ticket validation, passenger assistance and maintaining good passenger relations

· Operating eletronic based ticketing system

· Ensure safety of passengers on board vessels

· Competent rope handling and ensuring ship lines and mooring equipment are maintained and in good working order

· Competent assistance with docking of vessels

· Have a solid working knowledge of safety procedures including but not limited to Abandon Ship Procedures, Fire Fighting Procedures and Overboard Rescue routines

The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills and be a team player.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

· General Purpose Hand Certificate or equivalent (eg. ESS)

· Current First Aid Certificate

· Current CPR Certificate

· Queensland Boat Licence

· Drivers Licence

Prior experience in the marine industry would be an advantage.
