Chef Positions at Plonk Beach Café
Located at The Spit Bridge in Mosman, Plonk Beach Café is overlooking the beautiful Middle harbour. We are a fast-paced seafood restaurant with a fully licensed bar.
Plonk Beach Cafe is looking for a qualified and experienced Chef.

About the Role:
Your duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Supervision and participation of daily food production of approved menu
- Menu Planning as per customer demand and market requirements within the company budget.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining food stock, food portion control, waste management, and stock purchase (receipt and storage)
- Ability to accurately cost and monitor production efficiency of menu items
- Ability to monitor sales mix, customer demand, and conduct special promotions.
- Ability to accurately monitor par levels of the food stock, kitchen equipment and inform management of additional stock requirements as needed.
- Ensuring that all food is cooked properly and served on time and that is presented correctly.
- Able to handle equipment, appliances, small wares, supplies, and tools effectively and as per requirements.
- Ensure consistent and smooth running of food preparation.
- Ability to manage temperature checks, cleaning charts, and food freshness
- Work to set guidelines and ensure food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation are always maintained to a high standard
- Supervising the kitchen staff and train new staffs as required
- Supervise and assist with clean up after service.
- Understanding application of food safety and HACCP systems
- Assist in achieving consistent GP and wage results.
- Maintain high kitchen standards in all areas of operation, food hygiene and safety, food quality, and preparation.
- Interpret and analyse all kitchen information including kitchen reports, audits, and documentation to mitigate risks and problems and ensure compliance obligations are being met.
- Improve operational efficiency of the kitchen by adhering to and improving kitchen policy and process.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during busy service times.
About you
The successful candidate must satisfy the following criteria:
- Trade Certificate IV of Cookery
- 3 years’ experience in a chef’s position
- Experience in a multi-function venue
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Other details:
Job Type: Full Time, permanent
Salary: AUD 55,000 - AUD 60,000 per year plus superannuation
We are open Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for Lunch from 11:30 am and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for dinner from 5:30 pm.
