The Department for Trade Investment (DTI) helps industry ecosystems and businesses identify and capitalise upon opportunities for job creation and economic growth. A strong economic future for South Australia depends on growing exports and investments. DTI works with South Australian businesses and stakeholders to boost exports, attract investments and grow the state’s international engagement and showcase South Australia to the world.
DTI supports businesses to connect with overseas markets, create strong international relationships and capitalise on export opportunities, while at the same time, strengthening the South Australian economy through investment and creation of jobs.
The Role
The Department for Trade and Investment (DTI) is the government’s lead agency for international engagement and economic development.
The Digital Engagement Officer is responsible for the delivery of strategic communication activities to help build and boost Investment in South Australia and Export opportunities from South Australia.
The Digital Engagement Officer will implement the communication strategy and projects, primarily within an online environment across DTI’s social media channels which include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram (including international accounts), WeChat and Weibo.
- The incumbent will also:
- Provide expert, digital-by-default, advice to management and project teams on, digital and written communications and social media strategy and implementation
- Assist with the department’s intranet
- Develop and implement creative, relevant and engaging content across all digital channels
- Contribute to business-as-usual communication campaigns utilising multiple channels, including data management and eDMs
- Report on performance and data analysis.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in the following selection criteria:
- Sound knowledge of contemporary social media management and best practice digital communications
- Proficiency in CMS software and social media tools (e.g. HootSuite, Twitter) and simple HTML and eDM software (e.g. MailChimp), Microsoft Office suite
- Broad and expert knowledge of marketing and communications theory and methodology across all media, including alignment of public relations outcomes and marketing strategies, communication techniques and social media strategies
- High-level written skills across a broad range of formats including speeches, briefings, communication strategies, website content, social media channels and a demonstrated ability to grasp, analyse, interpret and explain data in plain English
- Ability to identify and analyse information and issues and develop innovative and appropriate strategies, solutions and recommendations
- Significant experience in planning, initiating and managing complex communication projects, including developing communication plans, implementing and evaluating major communication programs and strategies to effectively communicate with to a wide audience
- Demonstrated experience in developing high quality and engaging content for a variety of digital media platforms.
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications or equivalent.
- This is a 12-month maternity leave contract. Some out of hours work may be required.
