We are looking for a Senior Advisor Social Investment and Engagement to develop and deliver a volunteering strategy to enable our people to play a role in our social investment strategy, contribute to the wellbeing of our communities and create a more sustainable future.

This is a great opportunity for a person who has experiencing in designing and implementing corporate affairs programmes -preferably volunteer programmes, dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Manager Social Investment Australia and being part of the Corporate Relations team that leads national and state-level partnerships, sponsorships and activities for the overall benefit of our people and our communities. You will
  • Apply your social investment experience and knowledge and expertise to deliver a two-fold volunteering program, including developing the purpose, strategy and program in alignment with Rio Tinto’s social investment and partnership objectives
  • Apply commercial rigour and discipline to all decisions related to the implementation of the program and ensure all decisions are aligned with broader business objectives and risk mitigation
  • Identify and engage internal and external stakeholders to identify key decisions makers and impacted people and create a volunteer working group and develop terms of reference
  • Build trust through positive and transparent relationships with all stakeholders including respect for local culture to build collaborative relationships across teams
  • Engage senior managers and employees in the purpose, strategy and implementation of the volunteering program
  • Ensure Rio Tinto’s reputation is enhanced and protected through excellent communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure a governance framework is set up and adhered to for the project, implementation and the programme
  • Comply with Business Integrity Standard and Partner to Operate Investment Standard


What You’ll Bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Tertiary qualification within a relevant field e.g. community relations, public relations, anthropology, communication, marketing, business administration
  • Substantial experience in corporate affairs with the ability to formulate and present compelling strategy and business cases
  • Demonstrated experience in confidently engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen, problem solving, strategic and analytical capability


Desirable
  • Experience designing and implementing a corporate volunteering programme
  • Successfully managed programs involving government, community and business partnerships
  • Knowledge of the resources sector
