JOB DESCRIPTION
Global Disability & Health Care Services is a leading Recruitment agency offering work to experienced Disability Care Workers. We have work in a variety of Melbourne suburbs.
We require staff with minimum 12 months experience caring for clients with Disabilities and Mental Health within Australia. Ideally a Support worker with youth work experience.
You must also be available to take a variety of shifts including nights and weekends.
Duties will include:
- provide support and information to clients, guidance on emotional, recreational, health or other social welfare matters.
- support a diverse range of clients, assessing clients' needs and planning, developing and implementing educational, training and support programs who may have the following:
a. intellectual disability,
b. physical disability (paraplegic, quadriplegic, amputee, etc)
c. neuromuscular disorder (such as cerebral palsy)
d. brain injury (frontal lobe or temporal lobe syndrome)
e. spinal cord injury
g. autism spectrum disorder
h. neurological condition (epilepsy, narcolepsy)
i. Chronic Mental Health condition (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder)
j. Acute health conditions and/or trauma
k. Social disadvantage and/or complex needs
- Help in supervision of residents within their community, in home or in a group home and assist in social and living skills and training to encourage independency in the community.
- ensure monitoring and reporting on the progress of clients
- Assisting in serving meals and performing any other housekeeping duties that are required.
- To be able to perform independently with people with disabilities on a one to one basis encouraging clients to develop personal, community and social relationships
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Previous experience in Disability work and Youth work

Minimum 12 months disability experience within Australia.

Previous experience in behaviour support

Current first aid certificate

A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check

Must have current drivers license
-
Excellent written & verbal communication skills and good command of the English language

Medication Management Course

Epilepsy & Emergency Medication experience

Child protection training

Knowledge of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
