What You Will Be Doing

The Grade 4 Social Worker will be responsible for fostering clinical excellence in Social Work services across the Mental Health program at Peninsula Health. They will be considered an expert in the field and will motivate and inspire others. They will be a leader in building and contributing to knowledge in their area of specialty or designated responsibility through direct service provision, supervision and evidence based research.

This role will coordinate and provide high quality social work assessment and intervention for patients/clients of the Mental Health Service at Peninsula Health. This role will provide professional governance and clinical leadership of all social work staff within Mental Health to provide excellent clinical care to patients. The role will provide direct clinical supervision for Grade 3 social workers and social work staff and students in Mental Health as required. As clinical leader, this role will develop and evaluate innovative social work practices to meet the needs of Mental Health patients.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work.
  • Achieved or working towards a post-graduate Masters qualification in relevant professional area.
  • Experience at a senior clinical level (min. 7 years)/ experience in leading health care professionals.
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively with a diversity of stakeholders (including consumers).
  • Evaluation skills and experience.
  • Expert knowledge of the application of social work theory to practice with demonstrated
proficiency in psychosocial assessment, intervention, counselling, case management and
discharge planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including using data and reporting on service outputs and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of recognised clinical/leadership experience and leadership expertise,
  • including the ability to undertake professional supervision and promote professional
competence in other staff
  • Maintain professional and ethical behaviours in keeping with the standards of the profession
and the organisation
  • Knowledge of industrial awards (EAs) and human resources processes for tasks as delegated
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
