JOB DESCRIPTION

Bankstown Basketball Association has a longer affiliation with grassroots basketball and with over 3,500 members, and one of the largest in NSW. The Association currently resides at Bankstown Basketball Stadium in Condell Park catering for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and badminton. It is home to the Bankstown Bruins representative? basketball teams, and offers sports competitions and school holiday training programs.

The current Learn to Play program contains roughly 450 students enrolled over age groups consisting of 5-18 years of age. A development pathway has been established to encourage learn to play participants to compete within the junior competition and ultimate the Bruins Representative Teams.

We are looking for a full time professional, dedicated and customer focused manager - Junior Development Manager & Coaching Director overseeing the whole junior learn to play programs, school holiday camps, basketball gala day tournaments and assist in the development of the Bruins Representative Program. The position has two(2) part-time direct reports - Junior Development Officer and Schools Development Officer to assist with daily administration and expansion of external school programs.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Learn to Play Basketball Program both internally within Bankstown Basketball Stadium and any external venues
  • Manage external primary/high school basketball programs within the Canterbury/Bankstown & Liverpool Council LGA.
  • Develop a strong leadership and working relationship with Junior Development Officer & Schools Development Officer.
  • Direct recruitment of coaches for learn to play program
  • Mentor young coaches who facilitate the learn to play program/ schools
  • Manage enrolments and registrations for all learn to play, school holiday camps and gala day tournaments.
  • Point of Contact for Customers via direct communication – phone, Email and social media.
  • Coordinate with the Accounts Manager the financial reconciliation of all payments of programs and recording of Active Kids Vouchers.
  • Financially responsible for performance of each of the programs to ensure they are viable/ profitable
  • Monitor Class participation numbers and manage appropriate class ratio to coach numbers.
  • Manage and prioritise marketing campaigns throughout school terms to maximise promotional impact.
  • Coordinate coach rostering, participant payments, prize orders, canteen orders and school holiday camp programming per term.
  • Work cohesively with Junior & Senior Representative Manager on all Bruins Rep items including coach recruitment, mentoring, team selection and BNSW draw reviews.
  • Collaborate with Basketball NSW, Sydney Kings, Sydney Flames and other NSW Basketball Associations in the promotion of junior programs.

To be successful in the role, you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in sport and/or administration
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective functional team member and administration coordination/management.
  • Demonstrated basketball coaching knowledge and/or equivalent within a sport
  • Demonstrated quality of customer service delivery, financial management, marketing material and promoting programs.
