Salary Range: $73,192.58 - $78,176.92 pro-rata per annum

Location: Esplanade Office

We now have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, motivated and experienced Programs & Activities Supervisor to join our Community Services team now! 

The individual we are seeking will be an amazing team oriented, engaging, customer focussed professional who has experience in delivering a diverse range of high-quality services, programs, activities and events that will enhance the social well-being and lifestyle for the people of Cairns. 

Reporting to the Team Leader Community Support, the primary objectives of the position are: 

  • To coordinate a proactive and strategic approach to programs, event and activities across Council venues.
  • To pursue venue event and programming opportunities, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • To manage internal venue hires processes and systems. 

To be successful in this role you will require: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply processes, principles and strategies for effective community engagement activities within a Local Government environment.
  • Successful experience in producing and managing a diverse range of programs, events and activities, preferably in a public facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, sponsors and the community.
  • Demonstrated planning, project management and organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, schedule and to meet deadlines in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated personal computing literacy with well‑developed practical skills in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • High level communication skills including a demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and appropriately for specific audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels to achieve desired outcomes.
  • High level of initiative, with the ability to work autonomously and positively contribute as a team member.
  • Capacity to work a variety of irregular hours.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
  • Excellent supervisory skills and experience, including the ability to manage staff and contractors.
