About the Position

It is an exciting time to be joining the Water and Waste (WW) Directorate of the City of Gold Coast where you can be a key driver in enacting change. The team requires two experienced and enthusiastic Project Management professionals. These roles require a strong ‘can do’ approach, and flexibility to support the business to deliver various projects. This opportunity may suit a hands-on, agile Project Manager or potentially someone with experience or capability as a Project Manager with a Business Analyst or Organisational Change Management skillset.

Key position responsibilities:

To ensure the effective delivery of Business Transformation projects, the incumbent will be required to work in conjunction with other service delivery functions within the City as applicable.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Project Management inclusive of preparation and presentation of project governance documentation.
  • Close liaison with Business Innovation and Technology Services for solution delivery.
  • Close liaison with Chief Procurement Office for the evaluation and selection of solution.
  • Liaison with the Vendor for delivery of solution.
  • OCM activities including stakeholder identification and engagement, impact assessments, communication and training.
  • Coaching of internal staff to increase their capabilities and knowledge of project management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of WW project management practices.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification and/or substantial knowledge and previous experience (>5yrs) in providing project management, in a large and complex organisation.
  • Extensive experience in delivering utilising both waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in project management systems (Project Online, Clarity or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in the ability to manage activities and resources effectively to achieve work goals and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with complex frameworks, multifaceted levels of information and convert objectives into plans, actions and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes and associated deliverables for activities such as project planning and management, enterprise system analysis, requirements management, process management, communication and training.
  • Advanced skills utilising Microsoft Office products including MS Project.
  • Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including:
    - an ability to analyse and articulate complex issues
    - articulate research through the presentation of innovative options to management and stakeholders
    - ability to prepare high quality written documents
    - a ‘Can-Do’ attitude and adaptable to needs and culture
  • Proven ability to work with team members and stakeholders within and across teams to ensure achievement of outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with emphasis in the areas of consultation, negotiation, influencing and assertiveness in order to resolve issues and meet changing needs of the City.
