The Media Precinct operates in a highly competitive landscape and as an Intermediate Media Buyer in our team, you will have the important responsibility of ensuring our Integrated Media Trading Team's media campaigns are some of the best in the market.

The job description

We are looking for an Intermediate Media Buyer / Trader to execute effective advertising campaigns. Your job will be to work alongside our planning team to target audiences, negotiate with media owners and buy media, as well as evaluate campaign success. You will also work within a team of media buyers/traders of varying experience.


To succeed in this role, we are looking for an Intermediate Media Buyer who has at least 3 years experience in an Australian media agency. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be an effective negotiator and buyer through your strong media relationships. You will be able to establish trust and build rapport with clients, our internal team members and media suppliers alike. Ideally you will be currently working in, or have experienced working in, an independent media agency.

Your role will include

  • An understanding of how to respond to a buying brief
  • Analysis media data (media, customer etc)
  • Negotiate with media owners and buy media 
  • Identify media buying opportunities and trends
  • Manage media plans based on planning brief parameters and media strategy
  • Optimise ad campaigns according to geographic exposure, frequency, time spans etc
  • Allocate budgets and monitor costs
  • Identify media trends of online and offline outlets
  • Evaluate the success of media strategies and campaigns
  • Proactively working within client teams on campaign set-up and optimisation strategies
  • Work with data to provide competitive and post campaign insights to the client


Qualifications

  • 3 or more years' experience working as a Media Planner and buyer; experience in television media buying is a requirement
  • If you have worked in an independent agency that would be considered a bonus
  • Strong knowledge of media channels and trends
  • Familiarity with campaign evaluation metrics and media buying
  • Working knowledge of media analytics tools (e.g. eTAM, RegTAM, Nielsen, Roy Morgan etc)
  • A working knowledge of MediaOcean
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • An analytical mind with an aptitude for statistics and math
  • Must be passionate about media
  • Professional client communication, both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritise responsibilities
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-pace environment
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, but also can work well in a team
  • Ability to proactively organise daily tasks
  • Keen problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Drive, ability to manage details, meticulousness
  • Enthusiasm for the future of advertising and building that future with us
  • The ability to work and live within Australia without sponsorship
