About the Team

As a part of the team, The Communications and Engagement Lead is accountable for developing and delivering Community and Stakeholder Communications and Engagement plans for projects and initiatives that span regional, rural and metropolitan Victoria. They will utilise their verbal and written communication skills to engage community, council, events and industry stakeholders across the state.

About the Opportunity

  • Identifying key strategic challenges and opportunities for DoT and lead the development and delivery of stakeholder engagement activities/programs
  • Develop effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to lead the direction of engagement activities across regions and projects
  • Lead the development and delivery of strategic engagement plans for key projects in the delivery of the DoT engagement strategy for initiatives/projects.
  • Communications and Engagement plans are supported by well written and appropriately selected collateral, such as letters, postcards and other public materials support engagement activities
  • Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders, including central DoT staff to build positive relationships
  • Proactively lead research and analysis activities to understand and respond to critical issues across strategic areas including transport safety, behavioural change, and suburban growth
  • Work collaboratively across the Strategic Communications and Engagement division for coordinated, consistent and collegiate approaches to the work of DoT, particularly through partnerships with Marketing
  • Prepare reports and briefs for consideration by key stakeholders on critical issues and updates to achieve positive project and program objectives

About You

  • Have skills to develop and implement significant community and industry consultation and stakeholder engagement programs
  • Negotiation and influencing skills to develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to coach others and write clearly for a wide range of audiences in a variety of styles
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage issues that could impact on organisational reputation/achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Possess project management skills and be able to lead complex communication and engagement projects.
  • Ability to provide expert advice to business areas and senior management on strategic engagement opportunities to support activities, projects and programs.
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop employees in effective community engagement, communication and stakeholder management.
