It is an exciting time to be joining Ryde Hospital as we build a health service to take into the future for the broader Ryde community.

To thrive in this role, you will bring your keen managerial acumen and clinical experience in the care of cognitive impairment, particularly patients with dementia and delirium, and be passionate about contributing to clinical practice within our newly refurbished unit as nurse leader for the interdisciplinary team.

Ryde Hospital has undertaken significant refurbishments in Ward 7 to assist in the care of patients with dementia and delirium. This demonstrates the commitment of our service and the team to deliver safe, high quality care, focussed on the patient, their family and/or carer.

Where you'll be working

Ryde Hospital will be undergoing a $479M major redevelopment. The redevelopment will provide a modern and innovative health care facility that will meet the demands of the diverse and growing Ryde community.

Ward 7 at Ryde Hospital has 16 beds. In liaison with dementia specific services, has recently been refurbished specifically geared toward supporting a lower stimulus environment for patients with cognitive impairment.

The unit is supported by the Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 Dementia/Delirium and a Clnical Nurse Educator. Continuing professional development is actively encouraged with a robust orientation and education program.

What you'll be doing

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is responsible for the coordination of patient services, unit management and nursing staff management within the ward/unit consistent with the strategic directions of Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).

The NUM takes overall responsibility for the health care environment and standard of patient care. As the registered nurse in charge of the unit, the NUM performs as a clinical leader and manager with accountability for culture, quality and safety, patient flow, financial management, change management and the experience of patients in the department.

The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership of the professions of nursing and midwifery to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.
