We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead who is in the early stages of their people management career to lead and grow our App Marketplace team based in the Melbourne office, part of our Developer Ecosystem.

As a Team Lead, you’ll collaborate with Product, Design, and Foundation to drive product and technology innovation and development, working closely with other engineering teams locally and across the world! You will lead and guide the team to contribute to the Zendesk platform, identifying scaling issues early and architecting solutions around them, balancing product delivery with BAU and engineering roadmap work, and proactively advocating for and educating colleagues in good software engineering practices.

This is a hands-on role, where you’ll spend up to 30% of your day in the codebase.

What You Bring To The Role
  • Some technical or team leadership experience with a track record of delivering sophisticated and high-quality projects. This doesn’t have to be in a similar role or with an official title.
  • Proven experience leading and delivering features in collaboration with other team members.
  • Proven contributions to team process improvements.
  • Experience partnering with product and business teams to deliver on roadmaps, communicate key information to partners, and set and manage expectations.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one programming language. Working with Ruby/Rails or React is a bonus but is not required.
  • Not afraid to work in legacy codebases or on designing, developing, and deploying new services.
  • Energy to keep the team motivated to deliver towards our vision and a desire to learn and improve.
  • A passion for sustaining a healthy, effective work environment, and a team-first mentality.
