The Pancreatic Research Group within South Western Sydney Clinical School undertakes research into the pathogenesis and treatment of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, as well as the biology of pancreatic exocrine function. The Director of Pancreatic Research Group is an internationally acknowledged leader in the field of pancreatic diseases. The Group's laboratories are based at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medicare Research, Liverpool Hospital.

The Research Assistant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assist with a research project investigating the effects of alcohol and smoking on the initiation and progression of pancreatic inflammation (pancreatitis). The Research Assistant will provide administrative and research support to the studies within this project.

Skills and Experience:
  • Degree in Science or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training or experience
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload and work independently as well as an effective member of a team
  • Excellent computing skills and demonstrated experience in data analysis using SPSS for basic analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in techniques including, but not limited to, cell culture (isolation and primary culture of pancreatic cells and cell lines)
  • Demonstrated experience with preparation of manuscripts, animal ethics applications and reports
