About your role …

The primary purpose of the Business Development Manager (BDM) role is to acquire new business and retain existing business to grow company revenue and subscriber market share in the Medium Segment focusing on 50 – 150 employee range.Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will need to be highly motivated, energetic with a can-do attitude to exceed business targets and execute strategies to grow market share in the 50-150 employee segment.

A proven track record of success in SMB sales, face-to-face relationship selling, and prospecting new customer opportunities is vital and success in this role will be evident through the achievement of business targets such as new gross ads in mobiles, mobile broadband, fixed voice/data.

Additionally, you will have the ability to effectively differentiate from our competitors in the experience that Optus can provide customers and to engage with Senior Executives across a range of SMB organisations.

Your ingredients for success …

  • 5+ years’ in a Senior Business Development role;
  • Proven track record in prospecting and developing a sales pipeline;
  • Selling experience covering Mobile, Mobile Broadband, Fixed and Data Products and Services;
  • Commercially astute with sound understanding of business drivers;
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business and grow existing accounts or industry segments;
  • Experience in operating in both relationship and transactional sales and marketing environment;
  • Sound commercial and business acumen with experience in positioning value propositions to customers;
  • Proven sales track record in achieving growth through acquisition strategies and sales teams and customer loyalty through strong relationships;
  • Extensive relationship / strategic sales experience within the Telecommunications and/or IT sectors;
  • Strong presentation - written & verbal to internal and external senior executives;
  • High levels of personal commitment and willingness to accept accountability for actions; &
  • Strong and effective negotiation skills including solid management of internal relationships.
