About The Role

We are searching for a Senior Specialist – SHES Assurance and Systems to join our Global SHES Excellence team. Orica’s Global SHES Excellence team designs and develops the systems, processes and programs through which we manage our operations to prevent harm to our people, our customers or the community, minimise our impacts on the environment and protect our assets and products. Through effective SHES management, compliance and leadership we seek to build a resilient organisation capable of anticipating, monitoring, responding and learning every day.

The Senior Specialist – SHES Assurance and Systems will be responsible for managing the SHES Assurance framework, plan and facilitating the Group SHES Audit Program, overseeing regional and site verification programs, analysing results and establishing continuous improvement actions, developing SHES assurance monitoring and reports, driving a continuous improvement in our skillsets and assisting in SHES Management System systems and training .
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Global SHES Excellence this critical role will partner with cross functional teams in manufacturing & supply, mining services, Minova, Ground Probe, group SHES and regional Vice-Presidents to provide technical guidance and the delivery of best in class SHES solutions. This role will suit a senior SHES, Operations or Assurance professional looking for an opportunity that allows them scope to be innovative in their contribution and to always be challenging the team to continuously improve process and add value to how the team delivers to the business.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain company-wide SHES assurance framework, in co-ordination with Internal Audit.
  • Coordinate the Group SHES audit program, including primary responsibility for administration and coordination of the program; delivery of audit program outputs; and participation in selected audits.
  • Monitor internal and external SHES assurance issues, trends and opportunities.
  • Prepare the Corporate SHES audit program summary information for Executive and Board reporting.
  • Develop and embed a SHES Improvement framework focussed on continuous improvement at all levels that drives compliance and effective management of SHES Management System.
  • Build SHES assurance capability through training, coaching and education to ensure effective implemenation of the SHES assurance framework.
  • Design and develop training programs and tools working with the Global SHES Excellence team, regions and SMEs.
  • Support other area’s of the Global SHES Excellence Team as needed, working collaboratively to drive excellence in our SHES systems, tools and performance.
What You Will Bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, science, Safety or equivalent.
  • SHES or operations experience (preferably in mining, mining services, heavy industry); including at least 5 years technical experience or operations experience.
  • Experience in auditing and SHES systems
  • Passionate to identify opportunities for improvement in SHES systems, assurance, and auditing frameworks.
  • Ability and competence in report writing including writing procedures and training programs
  • Problem-solving skills including the ability to structure analytics and drive impact.
