JOB DESCRIPTION

  • 3 month contract

Randstad Albury is recruiting an experienced Regional Liaison Officer who is going to work with the Government to promote, evaluate, plan and invest in infrastructure.

Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation infrastructure project connecting regional Australia to national and international markets - transforming the way freight is moved around the country - as part of a broader network of roads, rail, air and sea working together as an integrated whole.

This 1,700km line is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia. The Australian Government, through the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), is delivering the multi-billion dollar infrastructure in partnership with the private sector.

The role

We are seeking a highly motivated stakeholder engagement lead to join our Communication and Regional Delivery team. You will be part of a dynamic and fast-paced unit, working closely with the departmental executive, the Minister's office and external stakeholders to maximise the delivery of Inland Rail and help realise the benefits for local people, communities and industry. This temporary position backfills the Regional Liaison Officer in Wodonga to deliver the department's Inland Rail Engagement Plan.

Duties may include:

  • Undertake the general management of the Wodonga office and region whilst the RLO is on leave, including the supervision of a staff member.
  • Assist with the Department's planning for the 2021 Albury - Wodonga Inland Rail Conference which will be held on the 25-27 May.
  • Undertake the development of case studies for SME's and Inland Rail.
  • Develop and implement a program of regional engagement to promote strategic value to regions and communities of Inland Rail, consistent with a Regional Engagement and Delivery Plan for the Inland Rail Regional Office Network;
  • Build stakeholders' understanding of Inland Rail and manage community expectations around its potential benefits;
  • Guide regions and communities to information and supporting networks to enable them to self-determine how they can capitalise on the economic and social opportunities of Inland Rail;
  • Engage with local government, Industry and communities about opportunities including local content, procurement and employment associated with Inland Rail;
  • Engage with Commonwealth and State Government agencies to coordinate support for the delivery of Inland Rail;
  • Undertake horizon scanning to identify emerging issues and develop strategies for addressing them in consultation with other areas of the department and ARTC; and
  • Work with the other regional offices in Dubbo, Moree and Toowoomba on joint projects.

To be suitable for this role you will need

  • A current drivers license
  • To be an Australian Citizen
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple levels of government;
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work independently and under limited supervision to achieve outcomes and foster a positive workplace culture;
  • The ability to apply good judgement to deliver timely results and follow through with priorities;
  • The ability to adapt to change, showing resilience and effectively managing ambiguity.
  • The ability to make evidence-based decisions using your strong analytical, research and problem solving skills;
  • To currently hold or be able to hold a baseline government clearance;
