Maintaining our standards of integrity, and fair and ethical practices with our external partners is at the core of our values as Cook Medical. Continuing in that tradition, a new global functional area of support has been created within Cook Medical: Governance, Contracts & Audits (GCA).

Formerly housed within our Distribution Channel Management operational unit, GCA will continue its responsibility for the contractual, governance, and auditing functions for our third party distributors. Additionally, the scope of GCA is expanding to include the medical education stream of governance and contracts with healthcare providers and medical events globally.

Subsequently, we now have an exciting global opportunity available for a Senior Clinical Manager (SCM) - Medical Education within this new function. This new role provides leadership, direction and oversight to the HCP (healthcare professional) nomination and selection processes throughout all clinical education programs in Cook. The SCM will lead and chair Cook’s Clinical Nominations Committee, together with the 12 Sub-Committees in the Cook specialties. Each committee will be responsible for selecting HCPs to provide medical education services. The role will also include responsibility for ensuring that content of education meets applicable Cook internal and external standards.

Reporting to: Governance, Contracts & Audits (GCA) Vice President


  • The role will have full responsibility for the establishment and functioning of clinical nomination sub-committees
  • Oversee the Clinical Nominations Committee and associated sub committees to take responsibility for the nomination of suitably qualified HCPs to perform educational services for or on behalf of Cook, in the delivery of HCP training; for the safe and effective use of Cook products, disease state discussions or other educational requirements within scope, in accordance with Cook Codes, local / international laws, in addition to applicable / established territorial codes
  • Develop, implement and establish defined procedures for the nomination of qualified HCPs, who will be contracted to conduct educational or training services for or on behalf of Cook. This process will be fully documented and under the scope of CMMS (Cook Medical Management System)
  • Define and establish objective HCP selection criteria, which will allow for the selection of qualified professionals based on a wide selection of criteria, including but not limited to, relevant education and clinical skills, clinical experience levels, papers published, peer reviews, disease state expertise, management experience, presentation skills etc.
  • Develop, implement and establish procedures to ensure education content is reviewed, approved and stored in accordance with Cook standards
  • Provide meaningful and objective oversight into the work of the established sub-committees, ensuring all groups deliver output in accordance with established protocol and in line with Division Needs Assessment
  • Implement an auditable record management system to allow full transparency of all nominations, made available to both internal and external stakeholders, including Government monitoring and enforcement agencies
  • Collaborate and work closely with all relevant stakeholders, including Governance, Divisions, MedEd, Clinical Affairs, Product Management, Global Research & Development and other relevant parties
  • Evaluate Cook’s overall nominations process on a timely basis, examining best practice methodologies in the identification and objective selection of HCPs, including, but not exclusively, new technology platforms
  • Devise and manage metrics and monitoring criteria to ensure the nomination, selection and content review processes are subject to consistent evaluation and improvement
  • Requires occasional early morning or late evening teleconferences
  • Willingness & availability to travel on company business.

  • A relevant Master’s, or Ph.D.,
  • Medical / clinical expert with a compelling record of work
  • Must be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of medical practices within Cook specialties, as defined under the Divisions of Vascular and/or MedSurg
  • Strong background in clinical affairs or medical education
  • Additional language skills advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of developing strong working relationships and working well within a multi-dimensional team
  • The ability to manage workload and make decisions/give advice independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; with a strong business acumen
