Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering modern leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.
The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Planning Superintendent, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities at Newmont Tanami's Mine Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Planner will resource system generated work orders, along with operational identified defects and faults, by identifying materials, labour required and any special tools or equipment for the development of weekly, monthly and long term maintenance schedules.

This varied role, will see the Maintenance Planner adopt a short, medium and longer term focus on our maintenance planning, in alignment with Asset Management Strategies with a key focus on continuous improvement, cost efficiencies, safety and quality. Collaboration with maintenance and operational staff will be essential for success in this role.

The role is based in Tanami and offers an 14/14 FIFO Roster from Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs and Brisbane.
In this role you will:

  • Create weekly schedules of all maintenance tasks.
  • Organise and level labour resources required for scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Create, review, and ensure the asset strategy is effective and is carried out safely and efficiently
  • Management of all proactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Optimise inventory levels through effective planning and scheduling
  • Work within a team environment, liaising with planners, supervisors, engineering and operations personnel to ensure that work orders are reviewed, planned and scheduled within the required periods.
  • Manage master data requirements for department & utilize SAP knowledge to ensure data integrity for functional locations, equipment, BOMs, task lists and work centers
  • Ensure weekly maintenance plans & schedules meet minimum KPIs each week
  • Chair weekly planning meeting including the follow up of actions and key stakeholder engagement.
Your knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Experience in a similar role gained in maintaining fixed plant
  • Minimum 2 years maintenance planning/scheduling experience
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of MS Excel, Outlook and Project
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP
  • Able to facilitate and participate at site meetings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of Work Management processes
