Primary objective

Provide effective clinical leadership and resource management in the development, implementation and evaluation of high

quality, culturally appropriate community aged care services for clients in Central Australia and Barkly regions, ensuring

professional standards of the multidisciplinary team are maintained.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide professional supervision and general support to members of the multidisciplinary team in addition to clinical

leadership for Memory and Psychogeriatric Services, Transition Care and Aged Care Assessment Programs,

2. Manage human/financial resources to facilitate optimal functioning of the Aged Care Unit

3. Coordinate team strategies including monitoring service demands, triaging referrals and evaluating service delivery models to

ensure service delivery aligns with Commonwealth and Northern Territory legislative requirements

4. Provide senior level advice to the Senior Manager on issues impacting aged care services in the region

5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Tertiary qualification in a health and/or psychosocial related field with current registration or eligibility for professional

membership where applicable

2. Comprehensive knowledge of the Aged Care Assessment Program and demonstrated experience as an assessor and/or

delegate

3. Demonstrated leadership and management experience of a multidisciplinary aged care team with proven skills and knowledge

of financial and human resource management, change management and strategic planning

4. High level knowledge of contemporary best practice and issues associated with community based aged care services including

understanding of national reforms in aged care and a working knowledge of relevant legislation

5. Demonstrated high level analytical, research, problem solving and risk management skills

6. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to act as a consultant

to a wide range of stakeholders

7. Understanding of the impact of cross-cultural issues as applicable to aged care services

8. Current NT drivers licence or ability to obtain, and ability and willingness to travel by car/4WD vehicle and/or light aircraft to

visit remote areas for up to 5 days at a time.

Desirable

1. Post graduate qualifications in aged care and/or management
