About the role

We are currently recruiting a qualified locomotive driver or potentially a trainee locomotive driver to operate The Ghan" passenger train from Alice Springs to Darwin and additional regional routes as required. This is a rare opportunity for you to take the controls of one of Australia's best known tourist attractions.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to have strong communication and customer service skills as you will be liaising directly with The Ghan’s passengers. Each trip will require you to work closely with another three train crew on a relay shift having you away from home for a number of days so you will need to work effectively in a team and have flexibility to work shift work.

In addition, you will require:

• Current locomotive driver qualifications
• A strong commitment to safety
• Be available for 24/7 shift work

Trainee applicants will need to display previous experience working in a high risk work environment, strong safety attitude and ideally will have operated large machinery in a shift work environment.

This is an Alice Springs residential role therefore FIFO or DIDO applications are unfortunately not able to be considered.
