Media Manager

Your new company
A large State government department is seeking an experienced media manager to provide high-level media support and advice to key stakeholders, including senior executives and ministerial offices.

Your new role
Reporting to the Director of Media, your responsibilities will include:

• Provide high-level media support and advice to key stakeholders including senior executives on short-term and long-term strategies
• Promote initiatives and policies through the media and respond to media enquiries
• Develop and implement effective communication strategies to inform the public and external key stakeholders of issues and policies and support department priorities
• Research and prepare media releases, speeches and other communication materials
• Organise media conferences and public events
• Build and maintain professional relationships with ministerial offices, senior executives, news media and other key stakeholders

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will need proven reactive and proactive media relations experience, ideally within a government setting. You should have the ability to establishes relationships with stakeholders, develops effective stakeholder-oriented responses, and assesses, develops and negotiates innovative solutions to complex issues. Flexibility is required in this role and the ability to adapt approaches and work to changes in the environment and effectively meets new challenges
