The Role
Southern Adelaide Local Health Network | Surgical & Perioperative Medicine | Sterilisation Services
Casual Hourly Rate: $26.81 - $27.12 p/hr WHA3; $27.41 - $27.71 p/hr WHA4; $28.10 - $28.41 p/hr WHA5

Responsible for providing an effective and efficient general service, including undertaking a range of sterilising operations to ensure the timely supply of reusable medical devices/instruments and anaesthetic equipment to the hospital.

Demonstrating experience in the reprocessing with knowledge of instruments, sterilising and disinfection methods, infection control principles and experience working well as an individual or a team member in a multi-disciplinary team environment. You will be able to demonstrate developing knowledge and understanding of AS/NZS 4187:2014 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices in health service organisations, ACHS Quality Systems as well as understand and apply quality control techniques to a level equivalent to skills and knowledge. Together with your ability to utilise computer and word processing skills to prepare and maintain documents and records you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to cooperate with staff at all levels and maintain patient confidentiality and work with a wide range of people from different cultures, backgrounds and circumstances.

To be appointed at the WHA3 level you will have limited or no previous relevant experience in Sterilisation Services. To be appointed at the WHA4 level you must have completed the AQF Certificate III in Sterilisation Services or equivalent. To be appointed at the WHA5 level you must have completed the AQF Certificate III in Sterilisation Services or equivalent and at least 560 hours of satisfactory in-service experience within a sterile supply department.
