Established in 1984, Mainpac is an Australian software vendor which is now part of the Vela Software Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Constellation Software, Inc. (TSX:CSU), an international provider of software and services to multiple industries across public and private sectors.


Mainpac provides Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions across Australia and within 23 international markets to asset-intensive industries including manufacturing, mining and resources, ports and terminals, utilities, government, and facilities management. Mainpac’s EAM on-premise and on-demand software solutions are complemented by consulting, implementation, training, and support services.


About the role

We are looking for a senior business development professional who loves to find and close new business. This is a permanent full time position; our office is located in Capalaba, Brisbane, but we are open to the role being based in any location within Australia. 


Reporting to the General Manager, this role will see you responsible for identifying, qualifying, engaging and closing new business opportunities in our target markets. You will be expected to drive sales by understanding the prospective customer’s business and pain points and selling the suite of Mainpac’s products and services best suited to their business needs. 

This role will require the ability to travel Nationally. 


Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Meet and exceed sales targets for system sales and related products and services
  • Drive sales through new business prospecting, including cold calling and active industry engagement
  • Marketing strategies to attract quality prospects
  • Qualifying prospects which are a good long term fit for our solutions and our people
  • Coordinate and deliver pre-sales presentations and product demonstrations
  • Identify prospective customer challenges and competitor threats
  • Prepare and deliver accurate and compelling proposals
  • Effectively articulate value and negotiate commercials to close complex solution sales
  • Maintain records and produce formal reports outlining key actives, pipeline and performance
  • Produce sales forecasts in accordance with Mainpac’s Sales Methodology
  • Develop and maintain a solid sales pipeline
  • Actively seek out and maintain industry and competitor knowledge


Skills and Experience

We are looking for a solutions sales professional who can demonstrate the following:

  • Proven track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets and KPI’s
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in new business development
  • High level presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand business challenges and assist with finding creative solutions
  • Commitment to excellence, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Effective bottom-line outcomes while ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Demonstrated success selling Operational Asset Management solutions highly regarded
  • Able to travel throughout Australia
  • IT and/or business degree well regarded
