Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a career in coal analysis as a Petrographer.

Reporting to the Senior Petrographer, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Carry out coal and coke petrographic analysis and microscopy
  • Carry out equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Calculate, assess results and initiate repeat analysis
  • Know and understand Health & Safety procedures
  • Maintain database of all results
  • Use your geological knowledge to study the composition, structure and other physical aspects of coal
  • Maintain NATA accreditation in accordance with relevant ISO, ASTM and AS methods

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in Science or Engineering (preferred)
  • Laboratory experience/skills
  • Microscope experience
  • Coal Analysis proficiency (preferred)
  • ICCP Accredited Petrographer (preferred)
  • Sound knowledge of preparation and analysis standards (preferred)

Additional Information

This position is Monday-Friday (afternoon shift), however additional hours may be required so flexibilty is essential.
