JOB DESCRIPTION
The candidate should have a good understanding of Cane Supply transport operations. Good organisational, forward planning, supervision and decision-making skills will be highly regarded. The applicant we are seeking will have a proven high standard of attendance and punctuality as well as the ability to work effectively as a member of a small productive team.
The position involves continuous shift work during the crushing season, weekend work and some overtime. Position may be Seasonal or Permanent dependent on the successful candidate's year round skill set and this will be determined on a case-by-case basis by Management.
Essential criteria for this position include:
- Understanding of rail transport operations.
- Work safely and look after the safety of others.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Be able to provide regular and accurate feedback on the operation's performance.
- Adapt to and support ongoing change.
- Intermediate level of computer skills.
- Hold a manual 'C' class driver's licence.
The Successful Applicant
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinating the safe movement of trains on the railway network.
- Maintaining correct procedure for operation of two way radio network.
- Maintain the correct and efficient procedure for use of Electronic Mimic Boards.
- Efficiently operate and amend ToTools (Transport Scheduling Software).
- Ensuring a continuous supply of cane to the mill.
- Maintaining and adjusting loco schedules.
- Personnel supervision and associated administration.
- Coordination of on the job training for loco crews.
- Record keeping and management of information relevant to the position.
- Able to use common language skills to engage in communication with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Able to read and understand written and oral instructions and prepare records that convey information accurately and concisely as required.
The successful applicant will also be required to complete the appropriate station and maintenance competencies.
These competencies will be selected by management and drawn from those eligible to be covered by Sugar Milling Certificate. The successful applicant will be required to apply those skills at the direction of management or its authorised representatives.
