What you will be doing

As a Maintenance Advisor onsite, you will be supporting a multidiscipline workforce of Business Partner supervisory and trades personnel, managing Business Partner and Tyre Management contracts within the Mine Maintenance area and identifying improvement opportunities and implementing solutions to ensure that the Heavy Mining Equipment reliability meets agreed targets.

You will oversee the development, mentoring and welfare of the Mine Maintenance Apprentices, management of the apprenticeship programme and ensure all training milestones are achieved.

Who you are

You will be Trade qualified with previous experience working in a HME maintenance supervisory / leadership position within the mining sector. Your sound understanding of maintenance management processes, experience with contractor management together with highly developed communication skills will be key to your success in this role. Experience developing maintenance budgets and managing apprentices will be advantageous

Your Key Duties will include

  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with safe work procedures and processes and assist in developing new safe work procedures as required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal commitment to safety and environmental practices.
  • Ensure hazards within the mine maintenance area identified and addressed.
  • Liaise with the Planning Team, Business Partners and operations to establish an agreed schedule of work.
  • Help prioritise and manage the efficient completion of unscheduled work.
  • Provide leadership, technical direction and mentoring to a team of maintenance apprentices, including formulating and maintaining skill matrices, facilitating the development of team members and completing regular performance appraisal and feedback sessions for the participants.
  • Review Business Partner maintenance strategies and revise as required to address underperforming or high cost equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the performance of the mine maintenance area processes and people.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for work group activities.
  • Contribute to the organisational culture through performing work duties and interacting with others using Newmont's Values as the basis for your decision making.
