What you'll do

Reporting to the Lead Data Scientist, you'll work under limited supervision to:

  • Apply data and statistical analytics to government data to drive transparency and accountability through our performance audit program
  • Play a leading role in collaborating with performance audit teams
  • Use imagination and creativity to discover problems and devise data driven solutions using available data
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners
  • Apply auditing standards and guidelines, audit methodology and processes
  • Drive an evidence-based, scientific approach to performance audit
  • Teach and learn every day to continuously develop your own and others' technical and professional skills

Who you are

We're looking for tertiary qualified data professionals with several years' experience. You have proven your ability to engage with stakeholders, help define and understand problems, develop responses using the available data then deliver solutions using your technical skills.

You have several years' experience working in:

  • Data analytics, business intelligence, decision support, operations research, or similar
  • Applied knowledge of audit, investigations or risk management would be well regarded
  • Experience in leadership and stakeholder management

You also have:

  • Highly developed communication and social skills
  • A drive to use creativity and imagination
  • Willingness to use initiative and challenge the status-quo
  • Alignment with the established VAGO values

You'll demonstrate advanced programming expertise in Python, R, SQL or similar. Qualifications requirements are found in the position description which is available on our careers page.
