In the role of Communications Officer you will actively participate as a member of the Communications Team to advise on, develop, implement and provide communications services for community engagement, stakeholder relationship management, issues management, media relations, executive correspondence and internal communications to ensure effective relationship outcomes for the Region.

Description
As the Communications Officer you will:
- Assist the Communications Team to provide communications advice and support to regional staff on communications strategies including risk assessment, issues management and community engagement using appropriate communication tools.
- Develop, implement and report on communications strategies and activities to assist the region achieve its strategic objectives.
- Undertake community engagement and stakeholder consultation activities during project development and delivery.
- Coordinate, research, draft and edit communications material including responses to executive correspondence, briefing notes, media statements, responses to media enquiries, speech notes, online engagement, newsletters and other project material for the Minister's office and senior management.
- Coordinate and update the content of regional web pages to ensure relevance to projects and initiatives.
- Provide training, advice and support to regional staff and consultants to ensure consistency, enhance communication skills and improve relationships with key stakeholders and the community in the delivery of projects and initiatives as required.
Profile
To be considered for this role:
- A current Class 'C' Driver Licence is a must
- While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations or journalism would be highly desirable.
- Experience in an executive correspondence, communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will also be highly regarded.
Job Offer
Flexible working arrangements along with an excellent hourly rate of $48.69 plus super are on offer for this role which will commence in March 2021 and continue through until March 2022 with possible extension for the right candidate.
