Our client is one of the most respected global engineering, construction, and project management companies and for more than 60 years has worked to deliver projects in every Australian state and territory across a portfolio spanning mines, minerals processing facilities, LNG installations, refineries, chemical plants, power stations, procurement services, and telecommunications infrastructure.
Project Overview
An opportunity exists within our client’s project team to work closely with their customer on the SCM21 Project. The SCM21 project is a major project involving maintenance of the copper smelter at Olympic Dam. Our client has been selected as the engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) contractor for Olympic Dam’s Smelter Campaign Maintenance 2021 (SCM21).
The Position
Our client is looking for a Cost Engineer for both Hot Metals and Non Hot Metals with the Mining & Metals team based in Adelaide. This role is forms part of the team of Cost Engineers managing the Hot Metal contracts for the SCM21 project.
Responsibilities
Assists in preparing cost data for proposals or contract negotiations.
Participates in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on-the-job training programs.
Plans, coordinates, and directs preparation of specific budgets.
Develops and implements requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analysing standards, programs, and reports. Performs performance monitoring and control functions.
Investigates requirements for estimating and/or cost control data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
Creates and implements measurement systems for given processes, analyses performance metric results, and identifies improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience in the use of Ecosys or other similar cost management systems.
Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis, in the field and the home office.
Skilled in oral and written communication.
Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes.
Relevant recognized Diploma, Degree or Professional Certification
Completion of applicable project controls, business administration, legal, accounting, and/or related subjects training
Experience in the managing and / or supervising of personnel; including defining tasks, making work assignments, evaluating performance, and improving performance.
