Glenorchy is Tasmania’s fourth largest city with a population of 46,790. The City lies on the western shore of the Derwent River, next to the City of Hobart. We are looking for a suitably qualified Building Officer to join the Building & Plumbing Department within a dynamic Council, which will allow you to capitalise on your existing skillset. You will be responsible to act as a permit authority, assess and issues permits and deal with building compliance matters as they relate to Council’s obligations under the Building Act 2016.
The Candidate:
The candidate will have a sound knowledge of the Building Act 2016 and other relevant legislation and ability to interpret and assess design plans. The position will require the assessment of drawings and issuing of building approvals, inspection of building work for compliance with the Building Act 2016, providing technical advice to customers, associated administrative functions and compliance duties.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have completed a Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) and be or have the ability to be licensed as a Building Services Provider – Permit Authority.
Position Number: 100506
Position Hours: Full-time, 75 hours per fortnight.
Salary: Schedule A, Salary Point 11 $70,898.86 to $79,794.56 in accordance with Glenorchy City Council’s Enterprise Agreement 2016
