This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to contribute to the red meat and livestock export industry’s research, development, and extension (RD&E) program. LiveCorp is a not-for-profit industry body for livestock exporters and delivers research, training and communications services to the Australian livestock export industry and government. LiveCorp invests into the Livestock Export Program (LEP), a jointly funded initiative with Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), the industry service body for red meat producers. The LEP leverages exporter and producer funds, along with government matching of expenditure for eligible RD&E projects.
This role is a critical in connecting key projects (mostly science based) to livestock export supply chain participants with the primary purpose of improving animal health and welfare.
You will work alongside a driven and passionate team who strive to continuously improve animal health and welfare, supply chain efficiency and market access for Australian livestock. You will be responsible for the following:
- Maintain an awareness of the sector from a big picture perspective and understand current industry research priorities, trends and opportunities for innovation
- Manage the RD&E program budget, research portfolio and administration
- Manage multiple R&D projects at any one time
- Develop, plan, manage and review all R&D projects
- Convert research into functional outcomes that can be extended for stakeholders benefit
- Prepare written materials and reports for a range of stakeholders
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Strong project and program management skills, preferable with science focus
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (research, agriculture, public policy or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and work with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong and effective written and oral communications skills
- An ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines
- Be self-motivated with the ability to effectively work unsupervised
This role is genuinely dynamic, facing new challenges on a regular basis and to be successful you will need to be able to read and interpret key science based research and keep on track to deliver outcomes.
