APRA's mandate is to protect the Australian Community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances, financial promises made by institutions we supervise are met within a stable, efficient and competitive financial system.

To help us deliver on our mandate and strategic priorities, our Banking team is looking for a highly talented individual to join us in a critical area of the division. We are seeking a motivated and dynamic capital expert to join our newly established Capital Management team. Banking division is responsible for providing prudential regulation and risk assessment for banks across Australia. The Credit & Market Risk function works with frontline supervision, and Policy & Advice and the Data Analytics & Insights divisions to support these activities. Aa specialist you will provide expert advice on capital and capital management in support of APRA's prudential activities. You will define and lead projects within specialist capability and contribute towards policy development.

About the role

The responsibilities include:

  • Continuing to maintain a high level of expertise across the capital management spectrum
  • Maintaining an up to date and relevant knowledge of market issues that may impact on supervised entities
  • Effectively utilising the professional resources across the divisions
  • Building and maintaining an effective working relationships with our partners across the different operational areas
  • Providing quality service and advice to supervisors from within the Capital Management team given the volume and complexity of work
  • Developing advice and guidance in relation to capital management strategies and policy decisions

APRA offers unprecedented exposure to the Financial Services industry. You will work amongst a team of highly skilled professionals, to positively influence industry best practice and the stability of the Australian financial system.

To be successful you will have, expert knowledge and experience in the field of capital and capital management with substantial skills and proven capacity to manage the development and implementation of prudential regulation strategies, programs and initiatives. You will be up to date with financial market trends and the legislative environment. Demonstrate good judgement, practices, and situations to identify actual or potential problems in supervised organisations. You will have the ability to engage with senior executives in institutions to discuss industry and regulatory issues.
