Senior Manager, Specialist Business, Group Audit

How will I help?
You will manage an audit portfolio surrounding the Specialist Businesses Division. You will build valuable working relations across this division and the Group, collaborating as one team with other Group Audit teams.

You will lead independent reviews of control frameworks, systems, policies and procedures, and deep dives across the Westpac Group and identify areas for remediation and opportunities for enhancement. You will perform quarterly reporting that forms the basis of key messages to the Board Audit Committee.

You will support and drive initiatives to continuously improve the way we work by using and embedding data analytics, automation and visualisation into our review portfolio, audit approach and the processes of the broader the Group Audit team.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and support audit planning, including the identification of strategic and Specialist Businesses related risks and controls. You will play a leading role in Group Audit’s annual planning activities
  • Oversee and manage audits:
    - Determine scope for testing the design and operating effectiveness of controls,
    - Oversee the delivery of audits including framing and communication of issues, recommendations and reports
    - Collaborate within own home team and with other Group Audit subject matter experts in Projects, Data Analytics, Compliance etc
  • Find insights that form the basis of the key messages reported to the Westpac Group Board Audit Committee on a quarterly basis
  • Monitor projects, issue management, emerging risks or concerns
  • Participate in Group Audit Strategic Priorities and home team continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and lead a high performing team

What do I need?

  • Undergraduate degree. Degrees in Accounting / Finance or equivalent fields are desirable
  • Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) or Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or Institute of Internal Audit (IIA)
  • At least 10 years external and/or internal audit experience or experience in wealth/funds/ banking processes with risk/audit exposure
  • Experience in Data Analytics (particularly data transformation, modelling, visualisation, and automation) or a demonstrable desire to learn
  • Experience in financial services is desirable but not compulsory
  • Strong communication and relationship skills
