The Westpac Group has a complex Information Technology environment that needs to deliver to the rapidly changing needs of our customers and employees, the ever-evolving IT landscape and the Group's regulatory and statutory requirements.

The Trading Floor Desktop Support Technician is responsible for providing quality support services to the various groups in a fast pace financial company. This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to handle various problems with expertise and exceptional judgment while working with end-users. This may include but is not limited to:

  • Provide specialised, escalated support and technical assistance and assist with the monitoring of issue resolution to ensure issues are resolved within a timely manner
  • Assist in the design of backup and recovery procedures and plan and undertake effective Disaster Recovery and testing procedures to ensure effective Disaster Recovery plans are developed, documented, tested and implemented
  • Undertake problem determination and root cause analysis as directed to ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented appropriately
  • Plan, review and critique proposed changes and implement where applicable to ensure successful implementation of infrastructure changes

What do I need?

  • Three- five year(s) in an IT support capacity
  • Experience in Trading Floor support required
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Advancing analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of core financial services applications and products desirable
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • MCP/MCSA/MCDST & ITIL Foundation desirable
  • Technical knowledge and experience in:
    • Microsoft Windows operating systems - Windows 10
    • Microsoft Office Suite 2016\Office 365, Outlook, SCCM and Active Directory
    • Financial Market data applications including Iress, Reuters & Bloomberg is desirable
    • Mainframe application support
    • VMware virtual infrastructure
    • TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP network operations
    • Windows Mobile, Landline voice, VoIP and Video Conferencing
    • Remote access technologies
    • Experience with Aternity is highly advantageous
