Our client is a leading Container Logistics operator in Australia, employing in excess of 1,200 staff nationally and operating facilities in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

They now have a requirement for an experienced Transport Operations Manager for their Depot Operations in Brisbane, located at the Ports.

As the new Transport Operations Manager you will be driven, innovative and able to make an impact in a fast-paced environment. You will be working in a family owned organisation amongst a dedicated and supportive transport team where your time will be spent building relationships and creating engagement all while executing the daily operational management of the site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the team of Fleet Controllers and Transport Planners to achieve high performance & reach business targets as the Day Shift Transport Operations Manager
  • Daily handover to Night Shift Transport Operations Manager
  • Maximise revenue opportunities by ensuring the Fleet Controllers achieve maximum cube, TEU and weight on all movements.
  • Manage the daily activities of the transport operations and staff
  • Provide transport services to customers, ensuring their service level expectations are met but ideally exceeded
  • Ensure all fleet and equipment is operated, maintained and secured in accordance with company service standards and operating policies and procedures
  • Ensure the business operates in a secure, safe, healthy working environment at all times
  • Manage the recruitment & induction of new drivers
  • Liaise with the Customer Service team to ensure all customer delays or issues are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with depot and warehouse operations ensuring service levels to the warehouse customers are effectively managed

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting and cost analysis
  • Sound technical knowledge and experience in transport operations and planning
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Haulage operations, equipment handling, logistics and transport
  • Experience in leading, empowering and supervising personnel
  • Adhering to compliance with customs and state/federal transport regulations
  • Computer competency including MS Office applications (Excel/Word), exposure to terminal control systems
  • Knowledge of OHS&E requirements and obligations
  • Good Customer service skills with an ability to build rapport
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a challenging workload
  • Flexible and adaptable style
  • Ability to influence and engage external and internal stakeholder relationships
  • The flexibility to work shift hours and any additional hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position
