Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for an Operational Technologies Specialist to ensure the safe, reliable, and effective operation & maintenance of mine technology. Reporting to the Manager, Energy and Operational Technologies, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary responsibilities are the Finning/CAT mining systems technologies, capital projects involving electrical and communications infrastructure, and the Motorola Digital Mobile Radio system
Execute routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations to maintain the integrity of both hardware & software components of the mining systems fleet technologies, and wireless systems.
Maintain master version configuration files and settings and make these available to supporting personnel
Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance performance
Ensure compliance with change management procedures with registers kept up to date and audited regularly
Utilise domain knowledge to assist in Root Cause Analysis, process improvement and post incident investigations
Ensure all required hardware is stocked and managed to achieve targeted uptime of the mining systems
Maintain a close working relationship with both the maintenance and mining teams
Provide technical guidance on the integration of new systems with existing site infrastructure
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of open pit mining terminology, communications equipment installation standards, shared communications systems, wireless network administration and deployment. You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within an open pit or underground mining operation, a trade certificate (RSE) in a related field (Electrician, Industrial Instrumentation Technician), plus an additional technology diploma in a discipline that is an asset to overall job responsibilities (e.g., wireless communications, network administration, radio frequency communications, geological or mining technologist.
Experience with Fleet Management Systems is an asset, preferably Minestar
Knowledge of analogue and digital radio systems is an asset, including Motorola CapMax system
Computer literate, advanced skills with Microsoft Office and SAP will be an asset
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and competency to tow a single axle trailer in rough terrain
