GTE is looking for an IT Support Engineer to join our team. Level 1 & Level 2 IT support experience is essential to be considered for this role.

IT Support Engineer

GTE is an engineering firm specialising in control systems, electrical engineering, industrial communications and functional safety in the mining and industrial sectors. To support our strong pipeline of work we have an opening for an IT Support Engineer with a minimum of 3 years’ experience to join our growing team.

Reporting to the IT Manager, this position involves performing the IT service support function for GTE. The IT Support Engineer will provide Level 1 and Level 2 IT support to all GTE staff and contractors. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing systems and procedures to manage GTE’s technology assets. This role will also allow the successful candidate to be involved with IT related project work where they will be exposed to operational technology systems for the mining and resources sector.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Manage, co-ordinate and solve Level 1 & 2 IT support requests for all GTE staff and contractors
  • Schedule upgrades and installations in line with GTE requirements, project specifications and time frames.
  • Implement systems, processes and procedures to further enhance the support of GTE’s technology assets and business systems
  • Ensure business risks are identified and managed to acceptable levels across the Company’s IT systems
  • Perform IT engineering design and related duties; including, software development, equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor / equipment suppliers, architecture designs and testing of software by working with other team members.
  • Report to senior management on time and progress for work activities and communicate all potential business and project related concerns with senior management.
  • Prepare IT system designs according to required timeframes and standards and work with other engineers to develop optimised design solutions by providing high level technical expertise.
  • Prepare high quality design documentation, specifications and procedures for the development, testing, installation, integration and maintenance of IT systems and their associated systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, on budget, on schedule and safely.
  • Manage your time effectively to meet Company requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with experience.

About you

  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Broad knowledge of computer systems, software and hardware including server infrastructure and networking
  • Extensive Microsoft operating system (Server, Cloud and Desktop) experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Active Domain Controllers
  • End user support
  • Microsoft certifications
  • Microsoft Suite - Office 365 and Active Directory experience
  • Client focused with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and analyse problems, formulate appropriate courses of action and recommendations and support implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Visio and Project.
