Osborne Richardson is a preferred supplier to the Queensland Government. The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is seeking a qualified food technologist to assist with the running of their pilot plant based in Coopers plains on Brisbane’s south side. The department works with clients and leading industry professionals to trial new product concepts and technology.

Working with the Pilot Plant Manager, you will have an extremely varied role comprising of technical product development, machine operation, physical duties and client meetings. You will be working on trials, troubleshooting production issues and equipment, loading pallets, operating food processing equipment and liaising with industry professionals. When new clients come to site, you will be conducting tours of the facility while selling the benefits of working with the department and gaining commitment from potential clients. In order to be considered for this opportunity, your resume must demonstrate the following:

  • Qualifications in food science and technology (or related)
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment
  • Hands on experience with food manufacturing equipment
  • Physically fit for light physical duties such as manual handling and cleaning
  • Strong communication skills to talk to a wide range of clients
  • Available for varied hours (on call) depending on workload
  • Forklift licence or willing to acquire

The purpose of this role is to take on some tasks and duties of the pilot plant manager to enable them to focus on gaining new business. Hours of work will be determined by the amount of work the pilot plant has scheduled therefore they need someone who is very flexible with working hours and days.
