What you'll be doing

The Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU) provides intensive assessment and management of consumers requiring mental health care who exhibit acute and high levels of clinical risk, present with diagnostic and management complexity or experience acute symptomology of a mental illness/disorder. The MHICU provides multi-disciplinary treatment and support within a recovery orientated and trauma informed care framework. 

Candidates will need to meet the followin criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Recognised qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  3. Demonstrated extensive clinical experience within Mental Health Social Work as a practicing Social Worker.
  4. Demonstrated high quality verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated sound knowledge base of mental health issues and the Mental Health Act.
  6. Proven ability to work in a team environment and exercising independent professional judgement for problem solving and clinical care.
  7. Capacity to provide a range of interventions including support for both consumers and carers, education, group therapy and report writing.
  8. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain functional networks with NSW health, Non-Government Organisations, and community service providers.
