An exciting opportunity exists to join the Acute Medical Assessment Unit at Shellharbour Hospital.

The Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) at Shellharbour Hospital is a 9 bed Cardiac Monitored Unit. The AMAU is a critical care unit that looks after patients that require close observation with higher acuity care needs. This includes: * Cardiac monitoring for arrhythmia management; * Non Invasive Ventilation (HFNP/BiPAP/CPAP) for respiratory management; * Insulin Infusions for treatment in Diabetic Ketoacidosis; *Sepsis management which can include the use of Inotropes and arterial line monitoring.

What you'll be doing

The Registered Nurse is responsible for:

- the provision of person centred; evidence- based nursing care that promotes positive health outcomes;

- will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team;

- will work in therapeutic and professional relationships with individuals, as well as families, groups and communities;

- will assist in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced clinicians and will maintain their professional accountability and development in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia's Standards of Practice.

Shellharbour Hospital is a busy acute care facility which provides emergency services, elective surgical services, general medical, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis and adolescent and adult mental health services on site. Shellharbour Hospital is a 197 bed facility providing a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

Selection Criteria:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
  • Recent acute care and or critical care experience in a health care setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of evidence based practice and critical thinking.
  • Demonstrated commitment to person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.
