About the Role:

The Integrated Family Services practitioner provides case management support and services to vulnerable children, young people, their families and carers. The practitioner undertakes interventions, through individual or group work, with children, young people and their family, who may present with a range of complex issues including drug and alcohol abuse, family violence, mental health challenges, homelessness, and cycles of disadvantage and poverty resulting in chronic neglect and cumulative harm. This position requires comprehensive parenting assessment and case management capability together with strong interpersonal skills and relevant experience.

Skills, Duties and Experience:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, social welfare (or related field) or a Diploma in Community Services with minimum two years' experience
  • Experience in working with families with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated evidence of family assessment skills in working with vulnerable children and skill-based interventions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the special needs of children, vulnerable people and people with a disability; people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background; and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Child FIRST, Child Protection, other government and community organisations
  • Plan and facilitate group programs to vulnerable children, young people and families.
  • Participate in and contribute to program development and innovation.
Essential
  • Current motor vehicle license
  • Current Influenza vaccination certificate
  • Current satisfactory national police check or willingness to obtain
  • Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
  • Current First Aid Certificate of willingness to obtain (HLTAID003 Provide First Aid)
  • Competency in using the range of Microsoft Office computer software
  • Comprehensive private vehicle insurance and registration in the event private vehicles are required for work purposes
