The Company

Aston Carter is partnering with one of the leading global Big 4 Banks in Australia in the search for a Financial Valuations and Control Manager. The company is a reputable and renowned Top-Tier Bank who are well established in the market with a high performing team. The Role

The Valuations and Control role supports the Markets and Treasury business units and focuses on handling the valuation of complex financial instruments. It involves managing the end-to-end governance for complex derivatives. The role requires extensive stakeholder management, where you partner with the finance team, quants, risk management, traders, and regulators.

Main Duties Include
  • Developing the IPV process and understanding different valuation methodologies
  • Implementing controls and governance to mitigate financial risk
  • Valuating non-linear and complex financial instruments and analysing complex booking models
  • Implementing accounting standards and risk standards while working with quants and risk management to understand derivative pricing
  • Business partnering with internal and external senior stakeholders


The Candidate

The successful candidate will have strong financial valuations experience, strong derivative product knowledge and management experience. The criteria for the successful candidate are:
  • Finance, Risk, Frontline or Product Management background in either a Big 4 or a top-tier Financial Services firm, with an in-depth knowledge of complex derivative products
  • Demonstrated experience in valuations and the use of fair value techniques
  • Exposure to complex pricing, booking models and non-linear products
  • Exceptional senior level stakeholder management and engagement
