Your Role

Due to recent project and panel wins and the continued growth of the national business the client is seeking an experienced Stormwater Professional to expand their leadership capability in their Melbourne Office. As a Senior or Principal-level Stormwater Engineer reporting to the Group Manager you will:

  • Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of hydrology and hydraulics projects
  • Attend and lead client meetings
  • Execute high-level report writing
  • Lead and support business development activities, including client liaison and proposal preparation
  • Provide input into business planning and strategy
  • Train, mentor and guide junior staff to assist in their professional development
  • Encourage cross discipline collaboration and work sharing between teams

There is scope for the successful candidate to take on a formal leadership role within the wider Stormwater group if desired. The national team consist of 10 water professionals, including water quality, flooding, and stormwater engineers and scientists. The leadership responsibilities can be in the form of people leadership, client management and/or technical direction.

Required Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will be a water professional who has:

  • A degree in civil / environmental engineering or relevant sciences
  • A minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience with previous consultancy experience desirable
  • High level of proficiency using industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software packages (eg. MUSIC, RORB, SWMM and TUFLOW)
  • Experience using GIS, 12D and CAD software.
  • Proven experience in drainage infrastructure design and the development industry
  • Knowledge of the Victorian Planning Schemes and guidelines (development and drainage related)
  • Demonstrated report writing and verbal communication skills with the self-confidence to express technical arguments
  • Good client communication skills with an ability to talk about technical aspects to a non-technical audience
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills
  • Current Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia (MIEAust)
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (CPEng and/or RPEQ) – or eligible for
  • A strong desire to expand on their existing skills and advance their career
