Environmental Services and Regulation Division (ESR) are hiring Agricultural Officer (Environment) (AO4), and Senior Agricultural Officer (Environment) (AO5) to join a newly formed Reef Compliance and Regulation team. These are new roles created in response to legislation introduced to improve and protect Reef water quality in the Great Barrier Reef catchment. 

Agricultural Officers (Environment) will work with agricultural producers to apply regulated minimum practice standards for Agricultural Environmentally Relevant Activities. This includes both compliance activities and the assessment of applications for new or expanded cropping and horticulture activities. 

You must have the flexibility to participate in field work in both regional and remote areas, which involves you to routinely work away from your normal business centre, including overnight or lengthy stays. It is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of these roles to hold an unrestricted manual driver’s license or be prepared to obtain a manual license if they do not. Officers are required to drive government vehicles, including four-wheel drives as a part of their day-to-day and field work.

Multiple positions are being filled on a temporary basis in Central and Northern Queensland.
