Martins Yass Pty Ltd (Martins) operates from a rural site at Yass in southern New South Wales, producing growing media. Martins is family owned and operated and grown to have one of the largest bagging capacities in Australia. 

Martins is seeking a Loading Dock Manager to join our team and support operations at our production facility. 

This professional multitasker will manage and oversee the receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities, ensuring quality and safety standards are met at every turn. The ideal candidate is exceptionally detail oriented, and able to track multiple facets of production, storage and transport at any given time. 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Drive the operation of the business to reach peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training of relevant employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operation goals
  • Develop and implement systems and procedures to support the process by ensuring gaining and understand the business product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, and transport and meeting the business need.
  • Train and manage a team of staff to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals. Managing the flow and quality of work to maximise efficiency
  • Supervise and schedule daily activities of the production facility, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, transport, and customer service.
  • Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met. Working within the Australian standard.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Inspect the worksite, equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and ensure general maintenance is carried out as needed and that any hazards identified are tended to.
  • Participate actively in the review, analysis, and development actionable plans for productivity, safety and quality.
  • Oversee logistics utilized to transport products to customers and internal facilities, communicating with drivers and contractor to ensure efficient and safe delivery of products direct to customer or storage.

To be considered for the position candidates must demonstrate the following attributes;

  • Qualification in Warehousing, Transport or logistics (not necessary but highly desirable)
  • Experience in a warehouse, logistics or transport type lead role, managing a team of employees and working in a faced paced production environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of warehouse relative procedures and policy, Chain of Responsibility regulation and Heavy Vehicle National Law and Regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership capability, ability to work with all levels of company staff
  • Comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback
  • Motivated self-starter with a high level of personal integrity, who is attentive and responsible
  • Must be able to lift and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be open to work any shift that is necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative to manage competing priorities 

A NSW High Risk Work (HRW) Licence for operation of a Forklift is highly desirable. Wages discussed on application, based on skills and experience of successful candidates.
