About the role

Reporting to Food & Beverage Manager and Banquet Manager. Lead the shift in the delivery of exceptional customer service consistent with the Langham Sydney service standards, policies, and procedures in order to maximize guest experience and satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

Primary

  • Provide practical and administrative support as required. Lead the shift to ensure the effective departmental operation
  • To be present on the floor for the majority of rostered shift assessing service standards and staffing requirements and coordinating the movement of manpower between areas as dictated by business levels
  • Maintain accurate log records for each shift as a component of the shift hand-over and as a source of information for future reference
  • Ensure presentation and standards of Function Room are achieved and maintained (i.e. cleanliness of crockery, cutlery, linen and glassware, table presentation, menus, furnishings, floor/carpet, etc)
  • Help manage and monitor manpower planning/ colleague rostering, wages, stock control and food and beverage costs.
  • Process financial postings and event charges
  • Assist with maintaining control of stock levels from both internal purchasing and external suppliers
  • Actively anticipate additional needs of functions (outside predetermined details) in order to facilitate improvements and ensure the highest levels of guest experience and satisfaction
  • Assist with associate induction and departmental training
  • Operating Procedures (LSOPs), policies and procedures to ensure compliance to organizational standards and to optimize individual performance
  • Interact with department and hotel associates in a professional and positive manner to foster good rapport, promote team spirit and ensure effective two-way communication

Skill and Experiences

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of food and wine.
  • Strong knowledge of Banquets operations, food & beverage and service.
  • Possess a high standard of professional grooming.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Well presented with exceptional communication skills.
  • For positions in Australia RSA Certificate essential.
