About The Role

Reporting to the Manager Future Energy Systems the purpose of this role is to develop and maintain the processes, methodology and documentation for undertaking the annual Demand & Energy forecast for Horizon Power’s portfolio of systems.

This person will lead the development of various future Demand & Energy forecast scenarios, manage a unit cost estimates database, and perform economic and commercial energy modelling to support the team.

The Key Aspects Of The Role Are

  • Develop and maintain the processes, methodology and documentation for undertaking the annual Demand & Energy forecast for Horizon Power’s portfolio of systems
  • Support the business development and testing of the Forecasting Tool project
  • Lead the development of various future Demand & Energy forecast scenarios that prepare for the uptake of emerging technology (ie. Electric Vehicles, Distributed Energy Resources etc.) and management thereof.
  • Manage and keep up to date the unit cost estimates database
  • Develop future cost curves of emerging technologies
  • Develop credible renewable energy and emerging technology uptake projections for Horizon Power’s energy systems
  • Perform economic and commercial energy modeling and development
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of appropriate energy models, tools and databases.
  • Review and analyse costs to supply energy
  • Provide analytical support to key strategic projects as and when required

In addition to sharing our passion, to be successful in this role you will have:
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Commerce, Economics or related field
  • Modelling and analytical experience in a commercial environment
  • Proven ability to analyse and manipulate large volumes of data
  • High level of competency using Microsoft Excel and other IT software
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Knowledge of financial analysis evaluation principles
  • Knowledge of energy and utility markets in Australia
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry regulatory environment
  • Knowledge of power systems (generation, transmission and distribution systems and assets) is desirable
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems and emerging technological advances related to energy storage is desirable.
