About the position

To perform a range of microbiological activities within the Quality Control Laboratory within ANSTO’s sterile injectable radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility, including microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, data processing and report writing.

To ensure manufacturing and microbiological testing executed in the Production Facility is carried out as per current GMP guidelines to ensure reliable supply of radiopharmaceuticals to the market.




Duties and responsibilities
  • Execute microbiological testing for ANSTO, Health products and external stakeholders, for starting materials, intermediate materials and finished products.
  • Perform environmental and operator monitoring to ensure sterility assurance of ANSTO, Health products operations.
  • Ensure the ANSTO, Health products microbiology laboratory is maintained to meet GMP guidelines.
  • Report and record any non-conformances.
  • Maintain microbiology equipment and testing consumable inventory to ensure that all testing occurs and release and delivery requirements stakeholders are not impacted.



Skills and Experience
  • Relevant degree qualification in Microbiology or related field.
  • Extensive experience in microbiology laboratory skills or specific technical experience in Microbiology or equivalent disciplines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP, ISO9001 standards, TGA requirements and International Pharmacopeia(s).
  • Knowledge and understanding of sterile manufacturing techniques, clean room standards and nuclear and pharmaceutical production regulations.
  • Experience working within a highly regulated environment (TGA, FDA and ISO highly regarded).
